Triton & Cafe Racer Day - Sunday 30th June 18/06/2013

Ace Cafe London's annual Triton & Cafe Racer Day celebrates the 50th anniversaries of the release in 1963 of both the seminal Mike Sarne Parlaphone hit single "Just for Kicks", the lyrics of which sum up the ethos of the Ace and cafe racers, and of the iconic Sidney J. Furie film "The Leather Boys", starring Rita Tushingham, Colin Campbell and Dudley Sutton, much of which was filmed at and in the cafe and its North Circular Road environs.

Both the 59 and Busy Bee clubs will be present along with Hitchcocks Motorcycles, showcasing not only their Bullet cafe racers but also their historic, factory prototype 800cc Royal Enfield Interceptor of 1969.

Spot prizes are up for grabs for "Best Cafe Racers" throughout the day to include for "Best Classic Cafe Racer", "Best Modern Cafe Racer" and "Best Triton".

Celebrating this years 110th anniversary of Harley Davidson and the 90th of BMW's famed flat twin, there will also be prizes for the "Best HD Cafe Racer, kindly sponsored by Warr's Harley Davidson, and for the "Best Boxer Cafe Racer" and, with this year also being the 50th aniversary of Royal Enfield's 250cc Continental (precursor to the Continental GT of 1965), there will a prize for the "Best Royal Enfield Cafe Racer".

In addition, spend £5 or more over the counter at the cafe from 10am and receive a raffle ticket. Draw for prizes to be held at 3pm.

The array of prizes includes copies of the new, 100 page, "Transport Cafe's" Bookazine from Kelsey Publishing as well as items from Lewis Leathers, Red Torpedo, Veetone Records and pairs of spectator tickets to attend the VMCC's prestigious annual Festival of a Thousand Bikes event at Mallory Park over the weekend 13th & 14th July.
