Margate Meltdown Run 10/05/2012

Date: Monday 4th June
Depart Cafe: 10.30am
Route: A406 - A13 - M25 - A2 - M2 - A299 to Margate seafront
The 5th annual Margate Meltdown is the most recently established of Ace Cafe London's free to attend major ride outs.
The ride out from the cafe to this popular seaside resort in Kent has been held each year on occasion of the annual Spring Bank Holiday, though this year the holiday date has been moved to the first Monday in June to mark the Diamond Jubilee of the reign of H.M. the Queen.
Margate seafront and harbour is given over to motorcycles and scooters, diverse club and trade stands, a stage and live entertainment form Noon with rockin' band "The Daytonas", the members of which have had 1950s music in their blood for over 25 years, but to include material of their own based of the Fifties idea of good time music, so come on down and shake it with The Daytonas, who will be assisted by rock n' roll DJ Bill Guntrip together with Ska and Mod sounds from guest DJ Ska Shack.
Working closely with the cafe's chosen charity for this event, The Royal British Legion Riders Branch (RBLRB), the town and Thanet District Council, Margate not only has everything that a great ride out requires, but also a great beach and plenty of heritage to include a legacy from the 1960s that is of world renown relating to motorbikes, scooters and the Mods & Rockers that rode them!
Coinciding with the Meltdown and continuing with the theme, Margate Museum is hosting a great exhibition - "In Their Words: Mods, Rockers and Margate", running from Saturday 2nd June - Sunday 9th September, so why not check it out!
