Re-launch of The Riders Digest at Ace 20/02/2012

Grand re-launch of the all new old The Rider's Digest

Wednesday 22nd February from 7.30pm

Time for a little clarification methinks. My dictionary lists four adjective uses for the word ‘Grand’. The first describes something that is “magnificent and imposing in appearance, size, or style”, while the second is used attributively to denote “the largest or most important item of its kind” (i.e. Grand Vizier). So you have to read right down to the third definition before you get to the context I was employing when I announced the “Grand re-launch of the all new old The Rider's Digest” at the Ace Cafe this coming Wednesday; and that is the appropriately ‘informal’ usage that suggests a “very good or enjoyable; excellent” occasion (i.e. Wallace & Gromit’s Grand Day Out).

That’ll hardly come as any surprise to anyone who’s familiar with The Rider's Digest of old, because even if we hadn’t been determined to avoid perpetuating tacky stereotypes, we still wouldn’t have turned up accompanied by a bunch of girlies in Lycra handing out party bags of assorted tack; but as anyone who has ever hung out with the Digest crew will confirm they are without a doubt the friendliest, most approachable group of motorcyclists you could ever hope to meet.

So why don’t you join us at the Ace for a sneak preview of the brand new online version of The Rider’s Digest? Like I say, there won’t be any dollies or glossy signage to give us away, but if you see a diverse group of riders looking like they’re having an inordinate amount of fun for a Wednesday evening in February, that’ll be us; come over and say hello and let us know what you think of our new baby!
See you there.
