The Daily Mail, announcing the birth of the Teds some sixty three years ago, reported on 27.5.54 “Cinemas, dance halls and other places of entertainment in south east London are closing their doors to youths in “Edwardian” suits because of gang hooliganism……The ban, which week by week is becoming more generally applied, is believed by police to be one of the main reasons for the extension of the area in which fights…..between bands of teenagers can now be anticipated.”

Pretty much the same was written ten years later in 1964, about the Rockers!

It’s called Rock n’ Roll. See it, hear it and enjoy the experience of it live at the Ace on Saturday 11th March with the 4-piece band Phil Haley & His Comments!

Not only does this band pay tribute to the great Bill Haley, they also cover other classic 50’s rock n roll tracks. With unrivalled energy and enthusiasm on stage, and as a great rock n’ roll tribute act they are sure to bring a great party atmosphere to the Ace and will doubtless be the perfect choice for this pure 1950’s Teddy Boy inspired night.

The evening from 9pm ‘till late, includes with DJ Bill Guntrip on the decks, together with opportunity to win a range of prizes on the evening to include copies of Vintage Rock Magazine and pairs of tickets for two to attend the cafe’s forthcoming annual “Eddie Cochran” on the evening of Saturday 8th April!

To be in with a chance of winning, just retain your door entry raffle ticket. Draw will be held on the evening.
