Paws n' Claws Run 08/12/2009

Ace Cafe London's motorcyclists will once again meet for their annual Paws n' Claws motorbike ride out to bring The Mayhew cats and dogs food, toys, treats and bedding this Christmas. It is a popular yearly sight to see the bikes leave Ace Cafe London, in Stonebridge Wembley, and travel in a convoy along the A406 to the Home in Kensal Green. The animal loving riders, loaded with presents, are brought to meet the dogs, cats and rabbits that are still looking for a new home this holiday season.

Carl Garner of the Cafe's Events Team, said: “Once again Ace Cafe London looks forward to the annual Paws n' Claws Run to The Mayhew Animal Home. Riders will leave in convoy to visit the animals who will be in the rescue centre for Christmas. Being lucky to spend the holidays with people we love, it will be great to be able to visit the Mayhew and  assist with the care and the finding of new loving homes for the animals that are so sadly no longer wanted".

Mayhew CEO, Caroline Yates, said: “We look forward to this event every year as it is a generous display of animal affection that is much appreciated over the festive season. Naturally we wish that all of the animals here were able to enjoy Christmas in a new home, but these extra treats and toys from the Ace Cafe's riders mean that we can lavish them with some special attention this holiday.”

The Mayhew Animal Home was established in 1886 for the benefit of “the lost and starving dogs and cats of London so that they should have sanctuary from the cold inhumanity they are being dealt outside”. Today, The Mayhew is one of the busiest animal sanctuaries in London, rescuing thousands of animals from cruelty and neglect each year. We provide shelter and care for cats, dogs, rabbits and when the need arises, for a wide variety of other animals.

The Home strives to tackle the companion animal welfare crisis from every possible angle. The organisation is pro-active, innovative and continually works to assist animals and their carers. We aim to set the standards in animal welfare. The Mayhew offers a wide variety of community services providing advice, care and assistance to animals and their carers whatever their circumstances.
